First time teaching class tonight! *whew*

Sensei told me he wanted me to lead class about 20 minutes before start. Lucky though, it was a fight class tonight, so I have plenty of drills and ideas ready to go for it.

Started out with basic kicks, each side, then we ran 6 laps. I then lined everyone up and did a body/vertical punch drill. 3 each side, standing static then 6 each side with an active in/out attack, We then paired off and fought for 4x 2:00 rounds. 20 seconds off and 4x 2:00 rounds. Then 20 seconds off and quick 4x :30 seconds rounds. I have everyone do lateral skips back and fourth across the floor 3x times. Then 4x :30 second round fights a couple times.

I broke class with 10 minutes to spare and lined everyone up and asked the Blackbelts one by one about their observations fighting everyone.

I got a critique after class that when I was having everyone do basic kicks I went too fast. Which really sounds crazy because it felt really really slow when I was calling them out. Super helpful to hear that and to know it’s common pitfall people have made. Hopefully easy to fix in the future.

Fight class. Had a pretty good fight class today. Started off with some real work. 3-4 rounds of jump rope for 5 or so minutes and a pyramid of pushups 20-15-10. Then did several rounds of sparring. Fun!

Fight class rnd 2. We did some running. Ran laps around the dojo, the did 3 rounds of planks: 30, 45, 1:00. Then did some drills and some sparring. Then finished with more laps. Fun class.

Fight class. Did some short medball running. Then deadman drill for a few 1:00 rounds. Then some light sparring and another deadman drill. Good night.

Fight class. Did a double class of sparring. Got into it quickly with some floor plate pushes and a bizarre running med-ball tossing thing. Then did round after round of sparring in short rounds of 45 seconds or so. Second class was just a straight up rotation of 3 minute rounds back to back with a 4 minute break. Long night, but good work tonight.
