The third class was I think the most fun so far. I told them we’d be hitting the floor tonight and I think they were excited. After a review of prior work we did some Karate style self defense.
Big bonus was I had my son with me tonight. So cool.
One Arm Grab, Side Snake, Headlock (a couple of different techniques) and the leg pinch I picked up from a Blackbelt test week or so ago, then we did Throw.
I let them take me down, my son down and then they took each other down by taking turns on each form. I think they had fun and might be a little sore tomorrow too. 🙂
Cold, breezy morning. Got to the middle school track by 7:45 am and we were on our way by 8:00.
Carried the gear down to the track and got busy with a 5k. Then we did a 400m sprint(ish). Once we got the sprint out of the way we pushed the prowler with 2 45#’s about 200m. Then did a team pull with all the weight and a kid sitting on it for about 400m.
Worked basic Kata and then Chinto for about 20:00 solid.
Ended with hill sprints/climbs and a buddy carry up the stairs.
My legs are sore. 🙂
Going to work on getting some Brown Belts and other under-belts out there next month.
First class was fighting. We warmed up with a dozen laps around the dojo floor. Then some kick drills. We did full speed(ish) kicks but with a backfist and body punch before and after each one. Pretty tiring. Then suited up and did a couple dead man rounds.
Brown & Blackbelt class was Bokken. We continued working on Bokken 5. Got about 2/3 of the way through. Good stuff.
Went to Simpsonville with Sensei to visit a new “Legend” inductee. The Thompson “Dojo” School. Home of Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, notably. Got to check out the organization, see how they run classes on a busy night and watch some training. Pretty rad night all in all.
