Went to a Sunday Team Dojo fighting practice. It started out with some quick laps and plyo-box jumps sets. Then fighting in rounds for 45 minutes. There were kids in the class and I had a great time working with them to try to inspire them to keep moving and think through their attacks. It was great seeing one little dude get fairly fired up and try some things he’d never tried before like kick to punch combos.
Once I got back home I hit a fairly easy paced 2 mile run. Just to finish the day off with 2 good hours of workout.

Two days in a row of training but no Karate per se. I missed my mid week class because of an out of town trip, but was able to work in a long(ish) 4.5 mile run before leaving town. Then followed that up the next day by attending the martial fitness class at the Dojo. Lots of agility and plyometrics for an hour. Sensei made it particularly challenging by requiring many laps of an obstacle course and then adding up to 15lbs of weight as I worked through the sets.

I’ve been out of the dojo and gym for about 6 days in a row. But i’ve had some spare time to work on my cardio by running. Pushing up to about 2 or 2.5 miles each time i’ve gone out. I’d like to get this built back up to hit a good solid 3.5 by the end of March.

Class today was Basics. It’s a discipline and focus drill where you get commands in Japanese and execute the specific movements or attacks.

Very fun to do those as they get called out to you.
Then I hit the gym for a brutal workout. Dead lifts, rows, bench press and other sets of full body type work. Then hit the court and ran about 13 laps, with 1 or 2 being a sprint to catch back up to my running partner. Finished out the day with 20 minutes of full stretching.
Gloriously exhausted now.
