Brown & Blackbelt class: Tonight was “Blasting Elbow” to start with for a self defense form. This form is pretty badass. I feel like it’s a powerful and short way to end someone’s attack. Good stuff. What was really good was doing the Self Defense an then going into Kata. Saiunchin… Learned a little further and got better at what I know. Iron Horse is no joke…

Self Defense:
We started with 3x each basic kick on each side.
Then drilled 1st, 2nd, & 3rd set of Self Defense as a large group.
Broke off into smaller groups and drilled 6th set ~5x each on each other.

Brown & Blackbelt class:
We worked on Self Defense. 360. We learned it and then drilled it over and over on each other, hitting hard and working control at the same time.
“360″
Charleote
Kick to stomach
Clap hands on attacker’s ears
Spin a 360 (twists the neck)
Kick to the groin
Knee to the stomach
Change hands and turn attacker around (so their back is to you)
Knee to the back
Throw down on the ground

Brown & Blackbelt class: We started with Zenkutsu Dachi, Kiba Dachi, Neko Ashi Dachi, Kukusu Dachi & Crane Stance; holding each for 60 seconds. The Horse Stance was killer and Cat Stance was a struggle. I did 30 pushups when we were done, just for good measure.
Then we drilled Sai. Punches, Rib Strike, Double Rib Strike and Over The Head Strike. 20x each.
Then we worked on Dislocated Shoulder for Self Defense. Really great drill on that one tonight.

Self Defense. I was the only student that showed up to class at noon today. So basically I had a private lesson in Self Defense. I worked with the instructor and fine tuned a whole bunch of stuff across all 6 sets of Self Defense. Not a huge workout class per-se but a really good detail oriented one. Loved it.
