WARRIOR MINDSET

NEVER GIVE UP.   NEVER QUIT.   KAIZEN.

Day 22

Today was a long day of class(es). First was noon class like normal. I learned back kick and practiced all the other kicks i’ve learned so far.

Then that evening I went to a 2 hour fight class. The first big fight class for me. It was interesting trading kicks and getting some kick conditioning in just a few hours after the earlier class. All made more difficult by some kind of oncoming cold/flu thing I have.

Great day of learning all around; ranging, landing and targeting kicks is not easy but the practice is so very much fun.

Day 21

Kicks, kicks, kicks. Tonight was sidekick for 45 minutes. I loved it, I needed it. I’m feeling more confident about my kicks every class. It is a ton of hard work to do it with precision and form and hold each chamber the appropriate time and breathe correctly.

I also received the official invitation to Rank test. I’ll admit i’m nervous, but what a great opportunity to practice “empty mind”. Truly learn it and deal through it with a live Rank test. Facing the unknown is important in Bushido. I must be ready to be open.

Day 19

Today’s class was led by Sensei and we did kicks. Man did we do kicks. I started on Side Kick. It’s pretty clear that I have limited flexibility, despite my classmates’ approval of my other kicks.

Challenge: Be able to do 3-5 Side Kicks with the other round of kicks at the beginning of class next Wednesday.

Training

Worked out at the gym with Giovanni today. Ran for a mile at about 8.5 min mile pace, then lifted for 45 minutes and then boxed for another hour. Moster workout today. Really enjoyed myself.

Generally getting faster but have a ton of work to do on focus and endurance.

Training

Attended the Martial Fitness class at Dojo tonight after the boy’s classes. It was a great workout. Mixing cardio with kicks is outright fun and great practice. There’s a great group of people attending these too. I hope to attend a few more of these in the coming months.

Side note: my feet are sore from jumping rope and kicking the heavy bag as hard as I can.
