WARRIOR MINDSET

NEVER GIVE UP.   NEVER QUIT.   KAIZEN.

Dojo: Kata

Got to the Dojo at 5:30am to just move… It was lackluster but getting out of bed and just getting there was a battle for me today. Creaky, dry and tired… my Kata was slow and unsteady at best but I battled through and did it. I suppose that’s something.

Training: Dojo

CMAO

We had a tournament at our Dojo today. The Carolina Martial Arts Open or CMAO. It was a pretty great day. I got the job of ring coordinator. It wasn’t too hard and I learned a ton. Basically I was to organize each group of players/performers for each division. I was put in a ring with some good judges in particular Mr. Harrison who is supposed to be on my own Blackbelt board. He as a really strict and tough judge with a laser focus on detail. Makes me pretty nervous.

Overall we had some truly legendary people in the Dojo for the day, along with their students. I got to talk with old friends and newer friends in the Karate world in our own environment. It was empowering and I loved it and soaked up as much as I could.

Both my boys competed and did well. I saw they both made it to the end for Grands. Which means they got some first place finishes. Pretty proud of them and the whole crew. Even my wife was a score keeper all day long.

Training: Dojo

Early morning session. We warmed up, then ran through each Kata once. In between every 2-3 Kata we did a round of Cindy.

Next time we need more Cindy, talked about a ascending ladder.

Training: Dojo

Day 5 (final day) of mini-camp. Not going to lie, it’s been really difficult getting up at 5 am every day and going into the Dojo to work. I do feel better about things, I feel like some progress was made this week. Which is a good thing, right? 🙂

Mixed a bodyweight circuit with Kata. The idea being to perform Kata while under or post stress so they flow and you are forced to shut off your brain.
