WARRIOR MINDSET

NEVER GIVE UP.   NEVER QUIT.   KAIZEN.

Day 82

Private Lesson: Another great private lesson. A full our of drilling and learning Pinan 1. The final throws are difficult and require good stances, I need more work but I feel like i’m finally figuring out how to store these Kata in my brain finally. It’s funny how simple movements are difficult to attempt to do perfectly.

Day 81

Private Lesson: Had an hour long lesson on Pinan 1 this morning at 9:00 am. It was great to have the focus and quiet of the Dojo all to myself. Frank Sinatra blaring on the speakers and just a solid hour of learning and drilling a single Kata.

Day 80

Had a pretty good learning class in Kata tonight. We worked Taigo 3 extensively after working on basic kicks and stretching. I fumbled with the Kata most of the evening but I think it’s sunk in enough for me to practice on my own and drill it.

Day 77

Worked out with Bo in today’s class. I worked through more of Bo 1, which is a pretty long(ish) Kata. Didn’t finish learning the moves for it 100% but definitely got familiar with what I knew quite well.

Day 66

Started back on Boken today. Got Boken 1 & 2 down. Very fun stuff.

Then we worked Taigo 3 after some Neko Ashi Dashi and Zenkutsu Dachi front kicks. I worked all the way back through Taigo 3. Felt pretty decent when done with class.

Rank test that was scheduled for August 30th. I have to postpone it, i’m not close enough in the knowledge or practice of the basic requirements even. There’s not enough time between now and August 30 to fit in what I don’t know. Especially with an August 10th written portion deadline. Ugh.

It’s better to be humble and work hard than to set yourself up for defeat…
