This is a series of episodes where we explore a deep dive into a book that has changed my life. We will go chapter by chapter and review the things that make it work so well with hope that you will find inspiration to help you with your own journey.
I am accompanied by long-time friend, fellow SEALFitter and badass, Heather Bauer Dughaish @bmbrbauer (https://www.voteheatherbauer.com/). Along with her husband we all co-own a gym; Workhorse Fitness together in Columbia, South Carolina.
The Way of the SEAL by Mark Divine
Chapter 2: Front Sight Focus
Read that chapter to take a deep dive into how you can utilize controlling your attention and developing emotional resilience.
Here are some interesting and useful points we cover from the chapter:
Maintaining a front-sight focus has a calming and confidence building effect. A SEAL knows he must simply engage one target at a time and not shift focus util he’s dispatched that target.
Identify a GOAL, and then achieve it by knocking down one target after another, each one the right target for that shot.
Avoid distractions…
Front-sight focus through a four pronged approach:
• Prepare your mind
• Envision your goal
• Define the mission
• Simplify the battlefield
Victorious warriors win first in their minds, and then go to war. Defeated warriors go to war first then seek to win.
