Spartan Beast
Ran the Spartan Beast this weekend. 12.5 miles and 25+ obstacles, finished it in 5:04:00. It was a long, tough, grueling run mixed with plenty of difficult obstacles that appear to have been designed to demoralize and beat you down.
My training served me well, all the miles and rucks and time in the gym. There were plenty of “skill” obstacles like the monkey bars, rope climb and traverse wall that me and my team helped each other through. However my endurance was high and never really cramped along the 12+ miles. When the strength obstacles were in front of me I just went right through them like they were not a big problem.
I saw many people struggle mightily and along the trail just doubled over in pain or sitting and trying to muster enough energy to leave. It felt great to be passing them by.
I still have a ton of work to do to be able to get through something like this on my own and within a shorter time.
